Potions { Harry Potter Party }

Well the madness continues over here….and I am thoroughly enjoying every minute of it.  While doing all my online party research a common theme emerged.  Everyone had Potions bottles.  Now I know why.  It is way too much fun creating your own potions.  Here’s what I’ve come up with so far (and couldn’t have made it this far without the superior bottle collecting skills of my dad).

Here’s all of them so you can see what the collection of them look like…..most of the ingredients/potions were taken directly out of the Harry Potter books, so very, very authentic.

The awesome labels came from Etsy (if you don’t know Etsy, you should!)…this shop, to be exact.  The awesome bottles were collected, scavenged, and found by dad (and mom) in their kitchen, at Goodwill, and at the regular store (purchased and then emptied into different containers…now that’s dedication to my mission!)  And as much as I have loved researching, creating, collecting and cooking up these potions, they are only decorations for the party.  Just wait til you see the actual potion we will be making in class…the Mandrake Restorative Draught…and guess who will be teaching….the Potions Master himself, Professor Snape (or as we like to call him at our house, “the Snape-inator”).  Once can only hope he will allow photography in the dungeon during lessons!

For those of you super dedicated to Potions, or creating your own, I’m putting bigger images in the gallery at the bottom….and if you want to know what’s in any of those bottles, feel free to email me (or maybe I will add the list of ingredients post-party…am trying to maintain air of secrecy for now and at least one of the nosy children coming to the party reads the blog).

In addition to being a fabulous photographer, you are the most amazing mom ever. Could you throw my next birthday party, please? (You could even reuse the decorations from this party.) Lucky lucky kids you have!

I am throwing a HP party for my soon-to-be 8yr. old and have been scouring pinterest for ideas. I love your potion bottles and labels
and was wondering if ALL of the labels came from the same Etsy shop. When I used your link to get to that shop I saw a listing that has some of the labels you used. However, it was only for a few of your labels; not all of the labels you used were shown. I’m wondering if you only got part of your labels from this site or if she custom-made some additional ones for you?
Thanks so much,

I’d love to know how you made these too! Have you posted it anywhere? Especially the gillyweed and dragon heart string. Did the gillyweed get nasty after awhile? What do you have for liquid in the bottles?
