My Handsome Fella!

So I am a little biased right now and am posting my favorite shots of my firstborn today….mostly because he is being a sweet angel right now and sharing his "smokies" (think dog treat for a nine year old boy….he’ll do anything for one!) with his sister! As my sister likes to point out, he looks very European-soccer player in these shots, with his track jacket and shaggy hair! This one is my favorite because you can really see his sweetness in his eyes! The rest of these shots tell the rest of his story….part scientist/explorer, part 9 year old boy, part annoyed by his mother! Love you, buddy!

Very cool blog! I can’t wait to read and see more!

These shots of Henry are very cool. They really capture his different moods.

Double the fun!

This was my first session with twins, just in time for their first birthdays. They are the sweetest, funniest little girls! they kept their mom and me laughing the whole time. They started out in these darling Christmas outfits….complete with fancy shoes and ruffly-bunned tights….by the end they were done with all the fancy stuff and were pulling their own tights off! That was perfect for me, because there is nothing I like better than bare baby skin….and look how yummy it all turned out! Here’s where I might be getting into a little trouble….I’m very hopeful that I am posting a picture of each girl. Their very patient mother has explained to me, more than once, how to tell them apart. Sadly, unless they are sitting next to each other, I still can’t get it right! Here’s hoping I got one of each! Don’t you just want to snuggle these guys? Enjoy and be sure to post a comment! Happy Friday!!

The pudgy baby elbows are so sweet! I like the actiony feeling of these shots. I bet the girls barely stood still for the photos.

True Love

These guys barely squeaked in under the 2007 wire….December 28!! Just a few weeks ago. Anyway, I just loved meeting them and doing this shoot because it was apparent just how much they all absolutely adore each other! There were so many shots from the day where this little guy is just completely mesmerized by whichever parent is snuggling him. He was so mellow and serious through the whole thing….what a little sweetpea! Don’t you love that he looks just a little surprised by the whole thing?

This is definitely in my top 10 for the year because I LOVE that I totally know that the little Mr. is just sitting there patiently, thinking, "OK you guys, I’m still here whenever you get done with all the mushy love stuff"…..and I’m such a big believer in the whole "remembering that you still love your partner makes you a better parent" philosophy.

I know in this last one you can’t even tell that it is from this shoot….but I know it is…so it belongs in this group. I love this one for the small, yummy baby feet and for the "artsy-ness" of it! Enjoy and be sure to post a comment! (I’m still working out the kinks there, so let me know if you are having trouble….)

Gorgeous photos, what a cute couple (family). You caught some great moments between them.

These Are a Few of My Favorite (Things)

Are you singing yet?  (I know my mom is!)  So I promised to share my favorite shots of 2007 and these 2 are right at the top of my list!  I love these pictures so much because they really capture the essence of this little girl, and I should know as she is my baby!  These 2 shots are both from her "4 year old" birthday shoot.  You’ll have to trust me when I tell you that she was entirely responsible for her outfit choices…..and she did a FABULOUS job of showing us exactly who she is!

The Dancing Princess – she loved making her skirt twirl out!

The Sassy Cowgirl – oh my!, the attitude just kills me!

Check back tomorrow for more of my favorites!

These pics have so much personality! And style of course. Little fashionista has been paying attention to her auntie!

The Beginning

So this is the beginning of my new beginning.  2007 was the year that I finally decided to take a chance and follow my pipe dream.  I am now lucky enough to say that I get to do what I love and it’s my job!  (Fernstrom Photography…can you even believe it?!)  I have always loved capturing tiny people, relationships, big moments, and the emotion that goes with it all.  A big thanks to all my cheerleaders and the willing (and not so willing!) models of the past year!  My idea for this blog is to be able to share sneak peeks of some of the shoots and some fun pics from around home.  We’ll see how it develops!  My goal for the next week or so is to post my favorites from 2007, so be sure to check back and see if you can find one of you or your favorite tiny person.  After that I can’t wait to show and tell you all about the most amazing photography workshop I went to this last weekend…..but not yet, as I am still trying to process all the info from it that is still swirling around in my brain.  So I’ll end today with a teaser for the rest of the week….my favorite picture of 2007.  It evokes tons of emotion for me, showing all the love and affection between my own kiddos, which I know is gigantic, but not always so apparent (can you hear them bickering right now?)  Enjoy and be sure to post a comment!
